Description
GENEREL
Potentiometric angular position transmitters play a crucial role in analog measuring techniques, particularly for high-quality measurement tasks. These transmitters find applications in various fields, including:
- Railway Vehicles and Ship Telegraphs: They are used for power braking control elements in railway vehicles and ship telegraphs.
- Ship Rudder and Propeller Systems: Potentiometric transmitters are employed in rudder and propeller systems for ships.
- Energy Management and Chemical Industry: They serve as control drives in energy management and chemical industry systems.
- Cranes and Excavators: Potentiometers are used in lifting gears and slewing mechanisms of cranes and excavators.
- Meteorological Measurements: Tail vanes for meteorological measurements rely on potentiometric transmitters.
- Textile and Paper Machinery: They function as dancer potentiometers in textile and paper machinery.
- Mechanical, Apparatus, and Medical Engineering: Potentiometers are also used for measurements in these fields.
Key features of potentiometric transmitters include high-resolution elements made of conductive plastic, constantan wire with varying resistance and angle values. These transmitters come in different sizes, including single-turn or multiple-turn potentiometers. Additionally, many series allow adjustment of the measuring range through shorted sections, tappings, and function windings. Some models even incorporate signal converters to provide current or voltage outputs (in 2, 3, or 4-wire configurations). For harsh environments, oil-filled potentiometers ensure reliability. Furthermore, protective housings (ranging from IP 40 to IP 68) are available to safeguard potentiometers from mechanical damage in dusty and damp industrial atmospheres, some of which can be equipped with gearing and limit switches
