Hawke’s new transparent cable chamber provides full visibility during installation and inspection
01 MARS 2020
This is the world’s first cable gland with a NEC-compliant®, non-metallic cable chamber that can be easily inspected visually without disassembly. To inspect a traditional metal gland, it has previously been necessary to open and destroy the cable gland and then replace it with a new one after the inspection.
Hawke International NEC® Compliant Series glands are the first of their kind with a transparent chamber, allowing full visibility during installation and inspection. This means that you can quickly inspect all installed cable chambers, which saves a lot of time and reduces costs as you do not need to replace the glands with new ones.
What are the advantages of silicone casting compound compared to traditional casting in metal glands?
During installation, when the silicone mixture is applied, the silicone is fully visible to the installer, making the process much more controlled. Any problems, such as voids or underfilling, can be easily fixed before the mixture hardens. The silicone is visible through the assembled casting chamber and can then be easily inspected without destroying the product. Traditional glands must be opened and destroyed upon inspection and then replaced with a new one. Our glands save you both time and money. Another safety advantage of a transparent chamber compared to metal chambers is the flame gap. If damaged, a traditional gland must be replaced, while a chamber with silicone can be easily replaced without having to replace the gland.
